My submission for the Mega Man Boss Battle tribute show celebrating Mega Man's 25th anniversary has been posted, so I thought it time to finally post it here. :) I chose Hornet Man from Mega Man 9. What I liked about 9 was that all the Robot Masters had regular jobs from which they had been re-appropriated, and I loved that this tough-looking guy was all about gardening. I latched on to the flowers and curious machismo of his design that seemed at odds, which led me to associate it with the visual cues of a matador. The watercolor look was a natural extension of that softening—I think it's a pretty different take and I'm quite happy with how it came out.
