I've revamped my tumblr with an actual logo and reasonably thoughtful design! And more importantly, I'm actually somewhat regularly using it, now that I'm participating in the Pokeddexy Challenge. I've got a bit of catching up to do since the weekend was busy, but I'm having a lot of fun with this drawing challenge. So here, have my Scyther animation from Day 1 for a taste!

Gael Style Test
A style test for a personal project I've been working on. This is a big nod to Jake Wyatt's illustration style, though I wanted to stay with my own linework style and not parrot his. I'll probably take the project a different way but this was a fun aside.
Punk Girl
Welcome to the new site! I've reworked my visual identity, and changed over to Squarespace. I'm impressed with how readily I was able to work a starter template into something I was happy with; while it's not 100% perfect just yet, the customization tools are pretty solid and I'm sure this will get whipped into shape soon enough. :)
Hornet Man
My submission for the Mega Man Boss Battle tribute show celebrating Mega Man's 25th anniversary has been posted, so I thought it time to finally post it here. :) I chose Hornet Man from Mega Man 9. What I liked about 9 was that all the Robot Masters had regular jobs from which they had been re-appropriated, and I loved that this tough-looking guy was all about gardening. I latched on to the flowers and curious machismo of his design that seemed at odds, which led me to associate it with the visual cues of a matador. The watercolor look was a natural extension of that softening—I think it's a pretty different take and I'm quite happy with how it came out.
Smash Bros
We've really gotten into Super Smash Bros Brawl at the office, so much so that I wanted to make something with my two main characters. Enjoy!
Monster Girls
A couple months ago some friends at work decided to participate in an online challenge: draw 30 monster girls, preferably one a day, and see what everyone comes up with. None of us made it all the way to the end, mostly out of time constraints, but some fun pieces came out of it all the same. Of the about a dozen I did, these are my personal favorites. Please note that there's nudity in these, so sensitive eyes look away!
Super Comboman
Street Fighter
A few months ago a project was put together of artists creating work to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Street Fighter. While the show was honestly all over the board talent-wise since many of the contributors are enthusiasts but not necessarily professionals, there were some excellent pieces to be found. This was my contribution—Blair Dame from the EX series. I was quite taken with her back story of being old European money. :)
Mouse Guard
Still alive, and I've done some work! And now I finally feel like posting it, so this is the first of several impending posts. While I was out I discovered David Petersen's Mouse Guard and fell in love with both the world scenario and the art—I've personally not seen anything like it in comics (in my limited experience. I was so captivated by it, that I thought, why not indulge in giving it a go myself?
Give the books a gander, and if you're one for tabletop role-playing games, maybe consider giving that a try too. :)
Friends of Cable Springs
As a kid, I loved the movie Tombstone; it was a love I'd adopted from one of my brothers. I've always been interested in Westerns since then, but have never really explored my affection for the setting. Playing through Red Dead Redemption sparked my interest in the setting again though, and once I started a subscription to Netflix the first thing I did was add several Westerns I'd had suggested to me (like Unforgiven and Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid). Most recently, I watched The Ballad of Cable Hogue and found I really admired how many of the characters were styled (a chic coach driver? a hooker turned classy lady?), so I made this. Hope y'all enjoy!
